Environment

Autex has always taken our environmental responsibilities as a manufacturer very seriously. We’re committed to applying sustainable practices across all aspects of our business, from manufacturing processes to safe, healthy working conditions for our staff. Autex is always working to build on our achievements and improve our environmental performance, in areas from energy efficiency and recycling to third-party product certification.

ISO14001 environmental management system

Autex Pty Limited is certified to Environmental Management Standard ISO14001, the international benchmark for environmental management systems. That means we have a robust system in place allowing us to monitor and reduce the impact of our business on the environment.

Under this system we set ourselves challenging environmental targets and undertake annual reviews to ensure our environmental performance is always improving.

Reducing our environmental impacts

Autex aims to operate using the most energy-efficient processes possible and continues to set reduced energy consumption targets. We use recycled and recyclable raw materials in our product manufacture wherever we can and are working to further increase the recycled material content of our products.

Autex’s Australian manufacturing divisions all operate under a zero-waste-to-landfill policy, with all off-cuts and waste immediately recycled. We work to eliminate or minimise pollutants in all aspects of our business and to reduce the environmental impacts of our distribution networks.

Product responsibility and green partnerships

Our environmental policy is founded on a ‘cradle to grave’ philosophy of producer responsibility. Autex operates a comprehensive product stewardship and extended producer responsibility (EPR) programme, allowing many of our products to be recycled either by ourselves or others.

Our green procurement policy means we actively seek and support suppliers who, like us, have internationally recognised environmental and quality systems in place.

Third-party eco-labels and initiatives

Many Autex products carry highly respected third-party environmental certification labels and endorsements. Our Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA)- and Ecospecifier-approved insulation products, for example, are ideal for projects seeking GBCA Green Star or other environmentally sustainable design (ESD) accreditation.

Autex Pty Limited is a member of Green Building Council Australia and a signatory to the National Packaging Covenant, committed to the sustainable manufacture, use and recovery of packaging.

Internal environmental culture

Our environmental management system is part of the culture at Autex. Our staff are highly committed to helping achieve our environmental goals and striving for continuous improvement in this area.

We provide ongoing staff education, training and incentives to continue to drive awareness and best environmental practice at all levels of our organisation.
