Vodafone Warriors Go Green With Autex
Read MoreAuckland, New Zealand, June 26, 2009
Autex Industries today revived its links with rugby league at the highest level by signing a new major sponsorship deal with the Vodafone Warriors – and it’s one with a strong eco-friendly message.
Autex, a pioneering sponsor of the Kiwis in the 1980s, is the largest polyester insulation manufacturer in Australasia and its sponsorship will see one of its brands – GreenStuf® – displayed on the back of the players’ shorts in both the Vodafone Warriors’ NRL and NYC teams.
Autex’s national sales manager Rob Croot said the company was excited about an agreement that runs for the rest of the 2009 season through to the end of the 2011 campaign.
Both the Vodafone Warriors and the Vodafone Junior Warriors will show off their new-look shorts bearing the GreenStuf® name for the first time on July 12 for their home encounters with the Bulldogs.
“We have a long history of involvement with rugby league and other sporting and community interests,” said Croot.
“The chance to be involved with the Vodafone Warriors is hugely exciting for us and the start of what we hope will be a long and valuable relationship.
“We believe that sponsoring the Vodafone Warriors will help New Zealand consumers realise they have a choice in home insulation.
“It will also heighten the importance of insulating your home, especially now the government backed EECA programme is in place.
“Through this people can access a third of the cost of installing ceiling and under-floor insulation. It’s important that we reach those households that need it most.
Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said the success in bringing Autex on board as a new sponsor was a huge boost for the club.
“We’re delighted that this relationship has been made possible in these challenging financial times,” he said.
“With so many examples of sponsors reducing the level of their commitment at the moment it’s fantastic for the club that we’ve been able to attract a sponsorship of this level in the current climate.
“This is also a sponsorship with an important environmental link. We all have a responsibility to be energy conscious in the world we live in and through Autex’s association we’re able to promote that message.”
Rob Croot said Autex’s development of GreenStuf® more than 10 years ago was the result of its desire to provide choice in the New Zealand market.
“GreenStuf® is made from a non-irritant, non-toxic and non-allergenic thermally-bonded polyester fibre,” he said.
It has no added chemical binders or retardants, ensuring it is completely safe to use. Discerning architects, designers, developers, builders, and home-owners can choose quality 100% polyester insulation, confident that they are using a safe and environmentally-sustainable product.
Croot said Autex, as a NZ manufacturer, is committed to sustainability and doing its part to ensure a bright future for New Zealand and the planet. GreenStuf® contains previously recycled polyester fibre (from PET plastic) and remains completely recyclable indefinitely.
“Autex also supports the consumers’ right to choose products that are better for us and for the environment,” he said.

Home Insulation Funding
Read MoreYou could be eligible for a one-off grant of 1/3 off the cost of retro-fitting insulation up to a maximum of $1300.
There are around 900,000 houses in New Zealand with insufficient or no insulation, this results in cold, damp homes that waste energy and can make occupants sick. Investing in insulation improves the energy efficiency of a home making it warmer, drier and easier to heat.
The Government is offering to pay a third of the cost of installing ceiling and under floor insulation, up to $1300, in homes built before 2000. Homes with sufficient ceiling and under floor insulation may also access $500 for clean heating devices like approved log burners, pellet burners, heat pumps, or flued gas heaters.
Autex Industries specialises in the manufacturing of GreenStuf® polyester insulation products. We have been warming up New Zealander’s homes for more than ten years and can help you access the government subsidy making your home warmer and more energy-efficient.
Why choose GreenStuf® thermal insulation for your home?
GreenStuf® thermal insulation is made in New Zealand from 100% polyester fibre bonded using heat instead of traditional chemical binders. Polyester is naturally resistant to fire, moisture, vermin, insects, mould and bacteria, eliminating the need for any chemical additives. As well as being environmentally friendly, our polyester insulation material is non-toxic, non-irritating, non-allergenic and safe for anyone coming into contact with it.
How the scheme works
The scheme is open to all homeowners or home occupants who have a house built before 2000. There is no income cap on who is eligible to apply.
Will you be able to borrow from a power company or a city council and repay it back through your power bill?
Many homes may require between $5,000 - $7,000 worth of work on their home. Some electricity companies, city councils and banks have indicated they wish to become fund partners. This means, for example, home owners or occupiers receive the government grant and borrow the rest - repaying the money through their power bill, council rates, or mortgage. We can assist you accessing these repayment options.
Are people who have a Community Services Card entitled to a higher grant?
Yes. The Government will provide 60 per cent of the cost of insulation – up to $1800.
Community Service Card holders are entitled to an additional $1,200 grant towards buying a clean heating device. Overall, this will mean they are entitled to a Government contribution of $3,000 for insulation and heating.
For houses occupied by tenants with Community Service Cards, landlords will be entitled to 60 per cent of the cost of insulation and a $500 grant for clean heating.

GreenStuf products get the ECNZ tick
Read MoreAutex GreenStuf insulation products have achieved certification by government eco-labelling agency Environmental Choice New Zealand. ECNZ is a world-leading eco-label described in a comprehensive European study as representing international best practice in environmental labelling.
To achieve ECNZ certification, GreenStuf products were thoroughly tested and proven to meet stringent thermal performance standards. All eligible R-values were approved to carry the ECNZ planet-and-tick symbol.
The ECNZ accreditation process also assessed the manufacturing materials and processes of the products, as well as Autex’s energy-efficiency, recycling and waste management practices. GreenStuf insulation products contain between 45% and 85% recycled PET plastic and are manufactured under Autex’s zero-waste policy.
“ECNZ accreditation of our GreenStuf products has been an important first step in achieving formal recognition of the environmental standing of our products,” says Robert Croot, Autex’s National Sales Manager. “We’re now working to extend the Autex stable of ECNZ-certified insulation products to give our customers even greater choice.”
