Fibrefoam^® institutional mattresses are ultra-tough, fire-resistant 100% polyester fibre mattresses, designed for use in medical and correctional institutions. Fibrefoam mattresses are available with hard-wearing fire-resistant covers that are also anti-bacterial and fluidproof, making them hygienic, easy to clean and highly resilient.

Non-combustible polyester cores and covers

Fibrefoam mattresses are manufactured with a dense polyester core that is highly resistant to fire. Unlike traditional polyurethane foam, Fibrefoam will not combust and emits only limited smoke when it comes in contact with flame. Our durable institution-grade cover fabrics are also highly fire resistant.

The Fibrefoam mattress was developed by Autex in response to institutional demand, resulting in improved fire safety for staff, patients and inmates.

Built for the toughest institutional environments

Fibrefoam mattresses are covered in Sure-CHEK^®, a tough, fluidproof, anti-bacterial fabric. It comes in two weights, a soft, breathable medical grade and a super-resilient abuse-resistant prison grade. Both weights are non-absorbent and stainproof, with a wipe-clean surface for ease of care and maintenance.

As well as institutions, Fibrefoam mattresses with Sure-CHEK covers are suitable for use in lodges, tramping huts and other transient accommodation.

Hospital- and prison-grade mattress covers

Autex offers a choice of two Sure-CHEK institution-grade fabric covers for our Fibrefoam mattresses. Sure-CHEK 44 is a high-security abuse-proof fabric that cannot be torn, burst or ignited. It is suitable for use in correctional institutions, psychiatric institutions and drug treatment centres.

Sure-CHEK Microvent has a softer finish and is breathable for improved comfort, making it ideal for use in hospitals, rest homes and other care institutions. Autex also supplies polyester fibre pillows covered in Sure-CHEK Microvent fabric to the healthcare and institutional markets.

The dense polyester fibre core of Fibrefoam mattresses is non-toxic and non-allergenic, making it kinder both to the user and to the environment. It is also extremely resilient, ensuring the mattress’s long-term comfort and firmness, and is completely recyclable at the end of its life.
